“When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants,
it is I who keep steady its pillars.”Psalm 75:3
This verse jumped out at me the other day in my devotions. Our world feels very topsy turvy right now with the ever changing mandates and new information, and cancellations, and quarantine rules. It feels unsteady.
Because I’m a nerd, I started researching and found out that the ancient Hebrew idea of the world was that it was held up by pillars.

That second paragraph says this: “The world was viewed as a disk floating on the waters, secured or moored by pillars…”
With that in mind, it brought new meaning to the verse. Picturing the world as balancing on pillars, which may feel precarious at times…
but God is the One holding it and He is immovable. Unchanging. Constant.
No matter the uncertainties in our minds…and no matter the outcome…and no matter even what our feelings say…
He alone is our firm foundation.
He will not change.
He will not fail us.
