My girl

My girl had an eye appointment last week and since we didn’t have little brother along, we made a girls day of it.  I may have mentioned a time or two how much I love spending time with my Ava 🙂

Anyway, after her last appointment (six months ago) I knew it was probably time for new glasses and she was SUPER excited about the prospect of picking them out.  Her one preference was that they should be pink…surprise, surprise.  Ava’s appointment went well, she made lots of new friends of course.  Her prescription changed just a little with her left eye needing a little stronger lens.  She does have to go back in three months because there is a possibility of her needing bifocals.  Say what?  My four year old needs BIFOCALS? Yep, that’s exactly what my reaction was.  It’s not for sure yet (that’s why we go back in three months) and my understanding is they are for the opposite reason that most people wear them.  They would actually keep her eyes from wanting to cross.  So…we’ll cross that bridge if or when we come to it.

After Miss Ava’s appointment, we headed to the mall, did some shopping, and shared a plate of chinese, which was her pick from all the options at the food court (I was happy since that is what sounded good to me too).  Here’s my lunch buddy:

Although, I mostly saw this view since she was so busy people watching.

After an exhausting day of being a lady, what’s a girl to do…

Yep, just plop down in the pool…dress and all!  It’s good being a girl 🙂

Oh, and we picked up the new PINK glasses today…

Adorable…with a capital A!

We’re home!

Actually, we’ve been home since Saturday afternoon but we hit the ground running and today has been our first day just chillin’ at home.  We had a fun time on our vacation.  The kids had a blast playing with their “cousins”, digging in the sand, going on boat rides, learning how to fish, and being filthy all week 🙂  I enjoyed making memories with them…but as with everything these days, it was all bitter/sweet.  Honestly, the week was harder than I anticipated…but I don’t regret going.  We went to be with family and make memories with them and we accomplished that.  There wasn’t anything that we did that Josiah wasn’t missed for.  Sometimes his absence felt suffocating.  This was not a “get away”…there is no getting away from grief.  It’s like a constant fog and I take it with me everywhere.  I told my sister-in-law this week that whenever I’m having a good time I feel like I’m outside myself just watching. Like it’s not really me laughing and having fun.  I guess I have to re-learn how to do that too.  Thank you for your prayers…they were much appreciated.  I may write more about our trip later, but for now I have a house and laundry to catch up on and kids to cuddle and bills to pay…so, I’ll leave you with some of my favorite pictures from the week.

Eating chocolate pudding. This may become our new tradition on our 1st night of vacation 🙂
