What I’m…

I’ve been wanting to write…but having a hard time coming up with anything. We’ve gotten into a bit of a groove around here which has been nice. My mind and spirit have felt lighter and less anxious lately, which I am so thankful for! Not to say that the darker/fearful thoughts don’t come…but it’s been less. So, with that in mind, I thought I would just write about a few things I’m doing/enjoying lately.

  • What I’m Reading:  I usually have several books going at the same time. Some I’m reading to myself and some I’m reading to the kids. I was reading a lot to my three middle kids for school, but right before Covid-19 became a household term, we finished that part of their curriculum. So, now we are just reading through books that I pick or from the what the kids are interested in.

Here’s what I’m reading to the kids:

A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23, By W. Phillip Keller

While I’m pretty sure a lot of this is going over my kids heads (as it did when my mom read it to me when I was young), it’s so good and very applicable to the times we are currently living.

Amon’s Adventure By Arnold Ytreeide

We got started on this story a little late to be done by Easter, but all my kids are enjoying this book!

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit By Judith Kerr

This is another childhood favorite and since we just finished studying WW2, it seemed like a great next read.

Now the books I’m reading. I usually have a non-fiction and a fiction book going. I only just started both of these, so I can’t give a full recommendation yet.

Gospel Treason: Betraying the Gospel with Hidden Idols By Brad Bigney

I don’t know about you, but these last few weeks have brought me face-to-face with some idols in my own heart. So, it seemed like a great time to get into this book.

The Island By Victoria Hislop

Historical fiction is my favorite and I’m enjoying this one so far!

  • What I’m wearing:

If you’re looking for something that maybe makes you feel like you tried but is crazy comfortable…this jumpsuit is for you. I bought it last year and I still love it! It’s perfect for your staying at home wardrobe.

And that’s it for tonight!

Autumn

Have I mentioned that I LOVE fall?  I love it so much that most of my house is decorated in fall colors.  I love all the fall activities too.  Here are a few fun fall things that we have been up to:

*Pumpkin farm (we took the kids a couple weeks ago and had a ball!):

Ava loved the goats...especially the babies

We attempted to get a pictures of our "lil punkins" with the pumpkins

How big is Lincoln?

Ava climbing on the hay

This big slide may have been Ava's favorite part. FYI, the kids up these were so sweet letting her go down and helping her.

Playing in the big corn pit. Ava had fun...Lincoln wasn't so sure.

Possibly my favorite photo of the day. My men with our pumpkin 🙂

Of course, we had to stop and feed the goats on the way out. L was quite taken by this little goat. Lucky for the goat, L wasn't quite fast enough to catch it.

*Playing in the leaves:

Aren't they cute?

Lincoln thought it was pretty funny when we threw the leaves in the air

This was the first year that Ava really enjoyed jumping in the leaves

*Pumpkin carving:

Ta Da! (FYI, it's supposed to be Blue's Clues)

There are SO many more photos that I want to share…but they will have to wait for another post!
