1st Post!

So, here is my first official blog post.  I think it’s appropriate that I am starting this blog in a hospital, just like Ava’s caringbridge site was started three years ago (if you don’t know her story go to: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/avajohnson).  I’m really looking forward to figuring out this new blog and filling it with all our happenings and all my random thoughts and also journaling about the funny things my kids do.  Please bear with me as I figure out this blog and add things to it.  We so appreciate all your love, support, and prayers through everything God brings our way.  May God bless you for being a blessing to us!

And as always, we are rejoicing day by day!

  1. Jessica, as I read in my devo’s this morning, even the patriarch Joshua needed to be told numerous times, “Be strong and courageous.” The Lord went on to remind him, “I will be with you!” You and Josiah can cling to that promise! Even as you struggle to find the right words, even as you sit in all to familiar surrounds that you honestly don’t want to be in, He is with you. We will continue to pray for Josaih’s complete healing, for God to recieve all the glory throught this, and for you, a wife and mother to have peace and wisdom to handle all that comes your way. We lift you up! Cathy

  2. Jess,
Thank you so much for your dedication to the body of Christ to put this blog together so we can all be united in our prayer support for Josiah and your entire family. We witnessed the miraculous hand of God as He moved through the prayers and actions of the saints in Ava’s challenges and we all are about to witness His miraculous work once again. This blog helps us all to be united in one goal, to bring honor and glory to our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ. We love you all and lift you continually before the throne of grace.
Blessings & hugs, Aunt Karan & Uncle Doug

  3. Jess,
I know you don’t know me, but I just want you to know there is a family in the state of WA praying for you tonight. I was married in the Grundy Center Baptist Church 25 years ago this next June. I attended there until the age of 5, and I remember your mom and Aunt Ruthanne as well as your grandparents fondly from those early days in church. I was so sorry to see on your mom’s facebook that you are once again facing health challenges in your family. It is astounding what God has allowed in your young lives (until we read the book of Job). We had a bout with cancer in our 3rd grader 9 years ago. She had her last MRI this past summer and, Lord willing, will be graduating from high school in less than a month cancer free.

We will be praying that God will sustain your family during these trying times, and that in His good time, you will walk away from it all, once again rejoicing in a miracle. I imagine His promises are becoming more and more precious, as they did to us, and you will have countless stories of His grace and kindness. I’m asking the Lord for many hands to help you with the tasks that drain you and that He would bless you with that continued peace which you spoke about in the blog.

    Praying from our hearts,
Pastor Jim and Kim (Watkins) Saunders and family

  8. Josiah & Jess:

I wanted to tell you how proud I am of the way you are raising Ava. She is a delight. When I stayed all night at your mom’s, I had the opportunity to observe your first born and her habits. Bravo for you two! I was reminded of a saying; “discipline your children and they will be a blessing to you and others, fail to discipline and they will be a curse to you and others.” She was such a little sweetie and responded to her authorities cheerfully and promptly. Your hard work and training is a gift you give to her first and then to all the people she meets. Thanks you guys. It really encourages the heart. Sending love, momma Dee
