Me, Myself, and I

This is the post in which I brag about myself…to myself…and ya’ll get to listen in 🙂

  • I got the garbage out in time for pick-up today! (I’ve lost track of all the weeks I’ve forgotten)
  • I made an actual meal for just the three of us last night that was not just easy and kid-friendly for the 1st time…Lemon and Garlic baked pasta, Tilapia, Steamed Broccoli, and Garlic Bread…we loved it!
  • I have started Christmas decorating…it hurts but I’m doing it.
  • I put together a train table all by myself for Lincoln’s birthday on Friday.
  • I flew on a plane a couple of weeks ago without Josiah for the 1st time.  Did I tear up?  Yes.  Did I become a sobbing mess on the poor lady sitting next to me?  No…I count that as progress.
  • I colored my hair.  I’m now a brunette.  It’s something I’ve always kinda wanted to do and today…I did it!
  • I put up the outside Christmas lights by myself for the 1st time.  The smile on Ava’s face when she saw them was worth it.
  • I survived Thanksgiving and even made my Grandma’s yams for the 1st time and they were yummy!
  • I am planning my son’s 2nd birthday party and even though it hurts and even though the day will mark the 10th month that Lincoln has been without his Daddy…it will be fun and I will be thankful for my sweet boy.
  • I’m posting on my blog and it hasn’t even been a month since my last one 🙂

Ya, I’m pretty proud.

  2. We brunettes do have plenty of fun 🙂 You will have to post pictures very very soon.
And Lemon Garlic Baked Pasta?? You must post the recipe as well 🙂 Yummy Yummy!
You are such an encouragement to me.

  3. YOU ARE AMAZING!!!! Oh my gosh…you have to share pictures soon of the new hair…I’M SO EXCITED! Enjoy doing a double take every time you walk by the mirror! 🙂 Loves to all 3 of you!

  4. I’m so thankful you push yourself to continue on with the new “normal” life, even though each breath of aloneness is painful. You are doing this for the kids, you are teaching them to walk by faith even when it hurts. You aren’t just making their holidays special, you are being a testimony of Christ. You are making your suffering your reason to go on and serve the Lord, and not your excuse to give up. Always praying and asking the Lord to bless you and uphold you when I visit…

  5. Jess,
You go girl – baby steps! Good for you for paying attention and noticing your progress in this painful journey. God continues to do a mighty work through you and your willingness to share your life openly. Enjoy those sweet babies – they grow up way too fast.

  6. -We have some frozen Tilapia in the freezer that you’ve inspired me to make. It sounded good a while ago, and then not so good for quite a while. Your meal sounds delicious. I’ll probably copy you.
-I’m praying for you as we go through the holidays. I’m looking forward to seeing you at Stephenson Family Christmas. I do hope you come, but I also hope we can get together before that.
-I’d like to hear Ava’s reaction to you hair change. Elaina was NOT happy when I chopped mine. I’m sure you look great!
    -And flying? Do tell!

  7. I am proud of you too.
Hebrews 12:1 I believe very much that Josiah is very proud of you too. You make God look good, girl, and are being an amazing young widow honoring your husband and your Lord.
Big Hugs and thanks for sharing!!!!

  8. GO GIRL!!!! A brunette? This is something you never told me! How do you like it? You are an amazing lady Jess. Love you very much!
